Description
I am pleased to announce that my self-portrait "On a flat wall nailed by a stream of light"
has been curated into a juried exhibition "LINES&CURVES" and will be exhibited at PH21 Gallery in Budapest, Hungary
from March 17 thru April 12, 2016.
"Lines and curves are some of the most important visual building blocks of both figurative and abstract images.
We can observe lines and curves of all possible varieties in photographs; they are everywhere.
Putting them in the centre of attention might even sound trivial and not particularly interesting at first.
This, however, is a call for not just any lines and curves. We would like to see lines and curves
that take a daring and pronounced initiative in the photograph; lines and curves that capture our attention,
lead our eyes, and determine the way we appreciate the photograph. Lines and curves might have significant compositional role
but they may also focus our attention on some parts of the image, hence influencing our interpretation.
There are countless ways lines and curves might become the central creative aspect in a photograph."
JUROR: Zsolt Bátori
Zsolt Bátori is a philosopher of art and photographer, living in Budapest.
He has taught philosophy of art and photography theory courses at various universities in the United States and Hungary,
and has exhibited his photographic work internationally. Zsolt is also the founder and director of PH21 Gallery.
